" The Enemy

Japanese surgeon and scientist, Sadao was  watching the sea from his house. His house was situated near the sea.

He was having a flashback of his conversation with his father during his childhood. His father always told that the smaller Islands seen from there, were the stepping stones  for the prosperity of the future  Japan .

Sadao took his early education in Japan. After that, he went to USA for higher education. He returned to Japan after completing his education in USA. His  skilled hands made him renowned in his country. Even, the Government of Japan did not permit him to leave his country. He was a  highly demanded person for surgery.

People face contrasts  of duties in their lives. This can be called dilemma or confusion

Suddenly Sadao  saw a person like figure at certain distance near the sea from their residence on the sea shore. They approached the visible figure and found there an injured American soldier lying helplessly. As a professional, he decided to treat the injured person. As a patriot, he was reluctant. So, we notice his mental division. You might have observed that even in our lives also, frequently, we are mentally divided. It is difficult to take a quick decision. At that time, a fighting was going on between Japan and America. But Sadao brought the injured soldier to his home and treated properly and gave him the good food to eat. Soon, the soldier recovered. Then, Sadao faced another dilemma. His dilemma was, if he handed over the soldier to the Japanese police, certainly, he would be killed. He thought that the person whom he had saved  with great care and effort should not be killed by the Police.

Finally and secretly, he arranged a boat for the American soldier with the  required edible items and asked him to leave Japan and go to his own country.

Thus, we observe, Dr Sadao's attitude towards his profession and his feeling of patriotism towards his nation.
